I understand that this process can be a little nerve-wrecking, but this step is vital is showing the committee who you are, your interest in their dental program, and your professionalism.
It isn't just about your DAT score, GPA, personal statement, or letters of recommendation.
It is about getting to know you and seeing how well you fit in with their envisioned class and whether your characteristics aligns with the schools' vision.
Though the dental school interview process varies from school to school, you can expect:
- Welcome lectures
- A campus tour with a group of fellow interviewees (depending on the school, the group size can vary
- The average interview day lasts 4-6 hours
- Possibly talk with dental students currently enrolled in the program
- The actual interview sessions range from school to school from 10 minutes to over 60 minutes, with the average being around 30 minutes. There are individual interviewers (most common and casual talk), multiple interviewers (more formal questions), group activities (like that of USC's). Sometimes your interviewers may be staff, faculty, or even current dental students.
- Student financial presentations
