The students who reported about their interview day at the University of Buffalo
traveled to the school on the day of the interview, with a parent.
The interview
day lasted from about 8:30am-4:30pm.
The University offered no student host
program of which these students were aware.
On the interview day, there
were one or two interviews, but current medical students conducted no
interviews.
Some questions that students reported being asked by interviewers at
the University of Buffalo included:
- "Discuss your research
experience."
- "What choices might you make in dealing with patients in
ethical dilemmas?"
- "What would you do if your patient was a young child
with a correctable disease, but the parents were not following through with your
treatment schedule?
In this case, the patient is not the one making decisions
for himself/herself.
How do you handle it?" (This question was considered the
most difficult question asked at the interview)
Besides the interview
day, a tour was given of the campus.
Sandwiches were provided for lunch for the
interviewees.
Deans and faculty members provided basic information about the
campus, the surrounding area, and programs offered by the University.
Students
classified this interview day as neutral in difficulty.
